Two trends of thought

Earlier, I expressed the desire to pursue a twofold objective on this blog: first to call attention  to  the good news concerning Jesus Christ and secondly to inform the reader of skills, practices, and knowledge handed down from our ancestors. At first these may seem to be foreign  to each other. However, I believe the two subjects may fit quite well together. You see Jesus Christ said He was the son of God. In order for that statement to be true there must of necessity be a God. One of the best friends I ever had grew up in hard times. He had very little formal education  and could not read ; but he was plenty smart and could build beautiful wooden furniture. When he and I would discuss spiritual matters he would almost always say " Why anybody knows there's a God.!" What would have caused him say such a thing? I think it was because he spent his entire life close to God's creation. He saw plants grow from dry, withered seed; he observed the moon and stars in the wee hours of the  morning on his way to the milk barn; he watched as a calf was born and struggling upon wobble legs found his mothers life sustaining milk ; and he knew deep down in his heart THERE IS A GOD!!!

Sowing good seed in good ground

When I was just a kid, my daddy put about fifty pounds of grass seed in an over sized tow sack; rolled the top down and set it up on the hood of an old red belly Ford tractor. He then sat himself  astraddle the the machine and instructed me to drive back and forth over the plowed ground while he slung the seed in front and from side to side. I can still see him today; his arm swaying back and forth with a steady even motion and his hand scooping up the grain with every pass.
Jesus of Nazareth said that the proclamation of the good news concerning Him was like that. When the message was believed and obeyed, it was like seed falling upon good ground and producing a fine crop.Like wise young people today need to understand that they can plant beans, corn and squash and live off of the produce. That is unless the seed was collected from a plant that was genetically altered so that the seed will not germinate. Even so with the massage concerning Jesus; we by the grace and providence of  God still have access to the good and pure seed as recorded by the apostles and prophets the Christ if we will take the time to search it out for ourselves. Sadly, much of what is being spouted today has been contaminated, perverted and counterfitted until multitudes of people have turned away from it in disgust. But I rejoice to tell you that the real person still lives and you can know His blessings and peace!   G W Partin.

Introduction to this blog

It is not my desire that this blog be so much about me ; rather that the emphases be on the information posted.  Sufice it to say, that I am an old mountain man; who is a disciple of Jesus Christ.  My first and foremost objective on this blog shall be to share His teaching; His claims and His promises with all those interested.  Secondly, I wish to post some of the old ways and doings of our ancestors as they strove to survive and thrive in this place so many years ago.
